The defending champion SSG Landers overtook the NC Dinos to take third place in the regular season
and improve their chances of a direct semi-playoff berth. The Doosan Bears will play fall baseball in fifth place.
SSG defeated Doosan 3-2 in an away game of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on Saturday.
With its 75th win of the season (3 wins, 65 losses), SSG leapfrogged NC (75 wins, 2 losses, 66 losses),
which was swept by the KIA Tigers, into third place.
With a commanding lead in the race for third place, SSG can clinch third place on its own if it wins its final
regular-season game against Doosan on May 17 at SSG Landers Field in Incheon and head straight to the semifinals.
Doosan, on the other hand, with 74 wins and 67 losses, will finish fifth regardless of the outcome of their
remaining games. Doosan will host the fourth-place team in the regular season on April 19 in the first
round of the wild-card playoffs. The fifth-place team in the regular season needs to win two games to
qualify for the semifinals, but a single loss will eliminate them.
Captain Han Yoo-seom, batting third in the lineup, went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and two RBIs.
The balance was tipped early as both teams came out firing on all cylinders.

SSG opened the scoring in the first inning with a leadoff double by Choo Shin-soo. After Park Sung-
hwan’s sacrifice bunt moved the runners to third, Han Yoo-seom hit a sacrifice fly to left field to bring
home Choo Shin-soo, who was on third base.
After taking control of the game, SSG added another run in the top of the third with an efficient offense.
Kim Min-sik led off with a walk and took second on Choo Shin-soo’s infield single. Park Sung-ho retired
the next batter on an infield fly, but Han Yoo-seom followed with a single to right to make it 2-0.
Doosan, who had been stymied by Elias’ relief, rallied in the bottom of the fifth. With the bases loaded,
Park Jun-young drew a straight-up walk and Heo Kyung-min hit a long shot to the wall behind the left-field fence to bring in a run.
However, Doosan missed a chance to tie the game as Heo was thrown out at second base on the ensuing double play.
With a precarious lead, SSG scored a valuable run in the top of the seventh inning.
With runners on first and second after Park Sung-hwan’s single and Han Yoo-seom’s walk, Guillermo
Heredia hit an infield single to the third baseman. Third baseman Heo Kyung-min was hit in the right
temple by an irregularly bounced ball and went down, allowing Park to come home. 19가이드03
