“We evaluate the Man Utd transfer market between ourselves”
Manchester United has a chat room of legends.
“A Manchester United WhatsApp group has been found to exist where former players discuss the club’s transfer business,” the British media outlet Sports Bible reported on Friday (KST).
Recently, United has been at its worst in the transfer market. The club has bought unproven players at high prices and failed to sell satisfactorily, which is why a major recruitment drive is expected in the summer under the new Mourinho regime.
Under Eric ten Haag, United have spent more than £400 million on 16 players, but have yet to make a significant impact. Casemiro, Rasmus Hojelin, Andre Onana, and Mason Mount are some of the big-ticket signings, but with the exception of Hojelin and Onana, they have yet to deliver.
And a number of former United players have been weighing in on the new signings via Messenger, with former United winger Ashley Young giving his opinion on the new signings. “There’s a WhatsApp group with retired players nowadays,” Young, who currently plays for Everton, told TalkSPORT.
“There are ex-Man United players in there, and sometimes we talk about transfers. But when I’m in the locker room, I don’t think about ‘why did we sign this player’. I’ve had a fantastic time in the locker room and I want the best from every player that walks through the door.”
The former United captain left the club in 2020 to join 토토 Inter Milan, then Aston Villa before returning to his current club Everton. He still keeps in touch with many of his former teammates on a daily basis via WhatsApp chat.
“We call the chat room the Band of Brothers,” says Young. There are so many people in there. There’s Ferdinand, Fletcher, John O’Shea, Rooney, Wes Brown, Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley, Andersson, Nani, Berbatov, Evra, the twins, Quinton Fortune, Aners Linnegor,” he added.
United finished eighth in the Premier League this season, but they have a chance to lift the trophy when they face rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final for the second year in a row.
