Seong-Hyun Ryu won the floor exercise final of the first competition of the World Cup series that ended in Cairo, Egypt a week ago, scoring 14.070 points and receiving 30 points.

Ryu Seong-hyun, who added 20 points for third place in the second competition,

currently ranks first in the floor exercise category in Olympic qualification points with 50 points.

If Ryu Seong-hyun maintains first place until the 3rd Baku Games in Azerbaijan (March 7-10)

and the 4th Doha Games in Qatar (April 17-20),

he can participate in the Paris Olympics as an individual.

Korean male gymnasts missed out on a ticket to the Paris Olympic team event at last year’s World Championships and are trying to get a ticket to Paris as individuals.

Up to three people can stand on stage at the Paris Olympics.

Paris Olympics

First, Lee Jun-ho (Cheonan City Hall) confirmed his participation in the Paris Olympics in the individual all-around,

which includes all six events: floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bars.

FIG grants the right to participate in the Olympics to those ranked 1st and 2nd in each event by adding up the scores from the 3 best performances in the 4 World Cup series competitions for each event.

According to FIG regulations, only one of the four floor exercise athletes Ryu Seong-hyeon and Kim Han-sol (Seoul City Hall),

pommel horse Heo Woong (Jecheon City Hall), and vault Shin Jae-hwan (Jecheon City Hall) will represent Korea in the Olympics.

Lastly, the Korean Gymnastics Association plans to decide the winner of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) 1 spot,

which is allocated to countries that cannot compete in the Olympic team competition,

at a later representative selection event.

Heo Woong, a promising pommel horse athlete,

took third place with 15.300 points in the finals of the second competition.

Heo Woong-do, who is recording 45 qualification points by combining the second place points (25 points)

from the first competition and the 20 points he earned this time,

maintained his top ranking and raised expectations for participation in the Paris Olympics.
