Kwangju University is back in winning mode, reigniting the race for the top spot.
Gwangju University cruised to a 98-58 victory over Ulsan National University on Monday at Gwangju University Gymnasium in the 2024 KUSF University Basketball U League Women’s College Division home game.
Second-ranked Gwangju extended its winning streak to two games and cut its lead over first-place Pusan National University to one game. Kwon Min-seo (14 points, 18 rebounds, five assists) recorded a double-double, while Yang Yoo-jung (23 points, four rebounds, two assists, six steals) and Lee Eun-ah (22 points, three rebounds) provided firepower. Kwangju won the rebounding battle 59-34 to secure a 스포츠토토존 comfortable victory.
Last-place Ulsan University, meanwhile, dropped its fifth straight game to open the season, extending its lead over sixth-place Gwangju Women’s University to 0.5 games. Cha Eun-joo (24 points, four 3-pointers, seven rebounds) led the way for Ulsan, but the difference in power was evident as they were dragged around throughout the game.
Kwangju dominated from the start. Lee Eun-ah (14 points) and Yang Yoo-jung (10 points) combined for 24 points in the first quarter to take control of the game. After a smooth start to the game, Gwangju had an even scoring distribution with five players scoring in the second quarter, 31-10, to pull away from Ulsan University, which had only Cha Eun-ju and Kim Soo-mi in double figures.
With a 56-20 lead at the end of the second quarter, Kwangju took control of the second half. Their offense slowed down in the third quarter, but they maintained a comfortable margin thanks to their rebounding advantage. At the end of the third quarter, they extended the lead to 39 points. After taking the lead early, KU never looked back in the fourth quarter and maintained its dominance in fast break points (26-5) to win its second straight game.
