Fan voting for the EA SPORTS K LEAGUE Player of the Month for April 2024 will be open for four days from Thursday, April 9th through Sunday, April 12th.
The EA SPORTS K League Player of the Month award is a collaboration between the Korea Football Association (KFA) and EA, the official videogame partner of the K League, to recognize the best player of the month. The Player of the Month Award is awarded to four nominees selected through a first round of voting by the Federation’s TSG Technical Committee (60%), followed by a second round of voting by K League fans (25%) and EA FC Online (“FC Online”) users (15%), with the results of the first and second rounds combined to determine the winner.
The winner of the Player of the Month Award will receive a trophy and a Player of the Month patch on their jersey for the season.
The April Player of the Month award was based on performances in matches held in April from rounds 5 through 9 of the K League 1, with Song Min-kyu (Jeonbuk), Lee Dong-kyung (Ulsan), Lee Sang-heon (Gangwon), and Lee Min-kyu (Ulsan) among the nominees.
Song scored a theatrical goal just before the end of the game against Gwangju in Round 7 to lead Jeonbuk to a 2-1 comeback victory and their first win of the season. He followed that up with a goal in the eighth round against Seoul, helping Jeonbuk to a 3-2 victory.
Lee Dong-kyung will be looking for his second consecutive Player of the Month honor after March. Lee scored three goals and added three assists in four matches from Rounds 5 through 9, tallying the most offensive points among April’s Player of the Month candidates. If Lee wins back-to-back Player of the Month awards, he will become the second player in K League history to do so, joining Mugosa, who won back-to-back awards in February, March and April of the 2022 season.
Lee contributed to the team’s back-to-back wins with multi-goal performances against Daegu in Round 5 and Jeonbuk in Round 6. Kangwon is the first team to have a Player of the Month nominee since Kim Dae-won in August of the 2022 season.
Following his season-making goal against Suwon FC in the sixth round, Lee In-gyu scored a multi-goal performance against Gangwon FC in the seventh round to become the league’s top scorer for the second consecutive season.
The K League fans can vote for the Player of the Month award through the official K League app ‘Kick’. Fans can vote once a day from Thursday, Sept. 9 through Sunday, Sept. 12, for a total of four times after registering on the Kick app. FC Online users can only vote once per account during the same period.
